Rozanne McKenzie and Rob Forbes reflect on their radio journey: Jacaranda FM Drive Hosts

In this week’s episode, Rozanne McKenzie and Rob Forbes are celebrating their second month anniversary in their role as hosts of Jacaranda FM’s brand-new drive show , ‘The Drive with Rob and Roz’. As they settle into their new position as co-hosts, they look back on the past month and their experience through radio thus far, and the direction that their new role for Jacaranda FM has in store for them.

How was your initial reaction when you heard that you’d be co-hosts on Jacaranda FM’s brand new drive show?

Rob Forbes:
I was so excited! I had some great ideas. i was hoping we’d be able to try the ideas a shot. I spoke to my girlfriend about it that I was thinking of doing this. she was very thrilled for me.

Rozanne McKenzie:
It was a joy to be thrilled when I learned that this was going to happen. I was aware that there might be modifications, but once I was offered the job I was thrilled! I immediately informed my mom and she was awestruck and happy for my accomplishments. She listens to every day on Jacaranda FM. Jacaranda FM App from London.

The reason this brand new drive show different and appealing to viewers?

Rob Forbes:

We’re going add value. We’ll have lots amusement doing it. We’ll also perform the best music we can! However, the only that Roz me and myself are fervent about is making sure that we’re capable of adding value to the lives of people and lives.

Rozanne McKenzie:

Rob as well as I share a wonderful chemistry, and it is evident on every single show. The show is entertaining without being gimmicky. The listeners are on a daily basis. It’s a conversation that is two-way therefore we have to stay in tune with what listeners are looking for in regards to topics and music. It’s an extremely inclusive space. Everyone is welcomed.

You’ve both been on radio for quite a long period of. Do you have a favorite broadcasting moment?

Rob Forbes:

Anytime I’m able to achieve a dream is something I’m grateful for on the radio. If I’m sending someone abroad for the first trip, offering someone tickets to see their favorite artist, when I’m handing someone a sum of money that will change their life, or being a an integral part of something that someone will never, ever be able to forget is a truly amazing sensation.

We were ecstatic and worked so hard throughout the process of preparing for the show that after the final show went ready to go on the air, the anticipation was different!

What’s the most shocking or bizarre incident that has ever occurred to you on the air?

Rob Forbes:

I once experienced a computer issue and also lost the caller on the line simultaneously but nothing worked. After I had finished I believed I had shut off my microphone… It was then that I cursed. Loudly. and lots of. The mic was not off.

Rozanne McKenzie:

Since the beginning of The Drive Show hosted by Rob and Roz it’s not been difficult However, once during an actual live TV program, at a time when I was more inexperienced, I glanced on the incorrect camera, and it was a disaster when I watched it again. This is the terrifying and wonderful thing about live television and radio: there’s no second chance.

What do you feel the most passionate about, when leave microphones?

Rob Forbes:

I’m obsessed with my wife and my cat, as well as Arsenal Football Club. I’m interested in a wide variety of things, including cooking for friends in order to express love, travel and wine, quality time with people who are most important people to your life, a catchy bassline to a new record for the house, or an amazing book – however, those three always top the list.

Rozanne McKenzie:

The people I wish to see be able to accept and appreciate their individuality, particularly women. There is a lot of pressure to appear like a certain manner and the perfect look that we are seeing on our social networks isn’t true. Our bodies can do many things and accepting them for what they are instead of always wanting to alter them to conform to social norms and standards is an unnecessary waste of effort and time.
